Phase One – Current Infrastructure Assessment
The infrastructure assessment phase will provide both the customer and CH2M Hill staff with the information necessary to effectively design and plan for the migration of network services from a Microsoft Windows NT Domain to a Microsoft Windows 2003 Active Directory environment. The project team will draw up the migration implementation documentation including project plans and project scope documents focusing heavily on the test phase.

Phase Two – Test Environment
The test environment phase implements a network configuration approximating a portion of the current customer environment, then performs a test domain upgrade verifying that no unexpected issues arise.
The base test environment will include services to be determined during the assessment phase. All desired results will be achieved in this test environment with documented processes and procedures for attaining the goal. Completion of this phase will position the project team for moving forward with the domain upgrade. The project team will create the domain upgrade implementation documentation including project plans and project scope documents.

Phase Three – Production Environment Upgrade
The production environment migration phase will perform the Windows NT 4 domain upgrade to the Windows 2003 active directory as scoped through the assessment and test phases. This phase will be implemented on a site-by-site basis over an agreed-upon time frame. This includes:
• Perform upgrade of production environment computer and user accounts to new Active Directory environment
• Retire replaced Windows NT 4 domain controller servers
• Hand off of network administration to customer network administration staff
• Obtain sign off on project completion
